Over 600 years of winemaking tradition
The Huși vineyard is located in the heart of Moldavia, “nestled” on the moluccan hills surrounding the city in the shape of a “crown of the dynasty”, being one of the oldest and most famous wine-growing areas in Romania. Dating back to the 15th century, the wine-growing regions of Huși have a long tradition and are of particular importance in the history of Romanian viticulture.
The history of the wine region of Huși: From the 1415 attestation to the school of viticulture
The first documentary mentions of vineyards in Huși date back to 1415, marking one of the earliest written evidence of vine cultivation in Moldova. During the reign of Stephen the Great, the viticulture of the Huși region gained fame, and another significant attestation of the Huși vineyards is found in a hrisov of 1474, when the ruler of Moldavia donated his vineyards to the monastery of Putna.
Another crucial moment in the development of viticulture in Huși took place in 1908, when the School of Viticulture was established in Huși, a fundamental institution in the modernization of vine growing and wine production techniques. The School trained generations of specialists who contributed not only to the development of viticulture in Huși, but also in other wine-growing areas of the country.
Another turning point in the viticultural history of the region took place in 1913, when Gheorghe Gheorghiu, the first director of the School of Viticulture, “poured” the first champagne from the wines of Huși, together with the Roman-German company Mott.

The viticultural tradition of Huși is in continuous evolution over the centuries, turning the city into a wine center of reference in Moldova. The fertile soil and favorable climate have been fundamental in the production of exceptional wines, appreciated nationally and internationally.
In our desire to bring back the luster of the vineyard, we saved the old winery and transformed it into a modern and welcoming winery. This initiative not only helps to save a heritage wine-growing centre, but revitalizes the region’s viticultural tradition, providing a fresh and promising direction for the future.
